The Blue Lagoon

4th
Jul. × ’10

The Blue Lagoon is an artificial lake, created by the outflow of a geothermic power station near the international airport in Iceland. I’ve visited Reykjavik so many times that I can spell it correctly without looking it up, but I’ve never visited its most popular near-by tourist destinations. Today I took that opportunity! Just after [...]

New work trip today!

29th
Jun. × ’10

I hope you can see the map above. On this new work trip I get to visit quite a few new places. Faroe Islands, Greenland and Newfoundland. I hope I have chance to see and do some interesting things. In Iceland I hope to re-visit that very ashy volcano. Other things I want to achieve: [...]

Combat injuries

21st
Jun. × ’10

Normally a 3 club combat injury, for me, is something like the following. This red mark on my arm is from someone (Jochen) hitting really hard, but catching me by surprise. Normally I can see an attack coming, and don’t get hurt, but Jochen’s attack, which caused this bruise a few weeks ago, was directed [...]

Things You Find Difficult – A Short Juggling Video

19th
Jun. × ’10

Two tricks. One I can do, and one I need to practice a bit more. One day I’ll get round to performing this routine.

Swans in the sun

17th
Jun. × ’10

“It’s such a beautiful day, I think I’ll walk.” Actually, I went to the canal to feed the swans. I took my camera, to practice taking photos without looking through the viewfinder. As I was trying to take a photo of a swan taking bread out of my hand, a man walked past with two [...]

Berlin Juggling Convention 2010

15th
Jun. × ’10

I had to write an article about the Berlin Juggling Convention this year, and I need some photos. Instead of focusing the show and normal things that appear in convention reviews, I’d concentrate on five other things: Daniel’s Geek Table, Fight Night, The Fashion Show, Sport Hocker and the Fashion Show. Katrin had asked me [...]

luke burrage classroom #3: club slide-to-balance

2nd
Jun. × ’10

I’ve been a bit obsessed with this trick for the last week. Let the balanced club drop off the side of the other club. As it falls, the weight of it dropping will start the club to turn. Catch again in a balance after a half or a full turn.

I’ve been decorating

5th
May. × ’10

Over the past five days I’ve done a lot of work on my apartment. I painted the ceiling of the living room and juggling space, something I never got round to doing, despite living here for 3 years. I bought and laid carpets too. I built a table/shelf for the back of the couch, and [...]

Ball Juggling 2001 – 2003

27th
Apr. × ’10

Between 2001 and 2003 I released about a hundred videos on my old website, Luke Burrage’s Thing on The Net. I had to get creative to deal with the bandwidth drains of these videos, as there would typically be about 300-400 downloads per day, which is probably more than the combined views my videos get [...]

Ten Years Ago Today

22nd
Apr. × ’10

During my last cruise someone asked me: “When did you know you wanted to be a professional juggler?” I thought about it for a few seconds before replying: “Exactly ten years ago today.” Which, to be honest, is only half true. Ten years (and now ten days) ago I didn’t know I wanted to be [...]
