The Monster Story Conference

11th
Feb. × ’10

I just released a new novella-length piece of science fiction. You can download it for free over here.

Enjoy!
A bit of background:
I was going to start editing a novella I wrote last February, called “Monster Story (working title)”. It got good feedback from my first readers, but they knew and I knew that it could be [...]

Luke Around The World – 20100126 – Punta Arenas, Chi

1st
Feb. × ’10

Here’s an experiment with a new podcast format. I post photos of where I’ve been and what I’ve seen, but talk about it in an mp3 file. The two may or may not refer to each other closely, depending on what there is to talk about compared to what to see. This may or may [...]

Goals and plans for 2010

2nd
Jan. × ’10

Yesterday (in my time zone) I posted the obligatory “looking back at 2009″ roundup. Here’s what I plan to do in 2010.
1 – Work and travel:
1.1 – Keep working on cruise ships, though structuring the my time away better than last year to maximize time in Berlin/with friends/doing my own thing.
1.2 – I already know [...]

Taking stock of 2009

2nd
Jan. × ’10

After working hard at my chosen career for the past six years I’ve reached the point where I have a surplus of time and money, so have to use both to achieve all the things I can while both at home and while traveling.
And so, after making a list of all I’ve accomplished in 2009, [...]

Sunset

13th
Oct. × ’09

I watched a fantastic sunset tonight in Kusadasi. I didn’t have my DSLR camera with me though, so used my iPhone to snap this shot:

I should have known to carry my proper camera with me to dinner though, because last time I was here in Kusadasi the sunset was equally impressive. Here is a shot [...]

Some news…

29th
Aug. × ’09

I’ve been a bit unwell this week, and haven’t felt like blogging. But I have done other stuff. Here’s some things, in no particular order:
I made a video showing a large majority of all the photos Pola and I took of ourselves while holding the camera at arm’s length. It wasn’t something I planned to [...]

Aug. × ’09

I just posted this to a forum, but thought I’d post it here too, so I can link to it easily when asked for podcasting advice.
Sort out your titles and ID3 tags right now!
Not every single person downloads podcasts via iTunes, which re-titles and stores the audio files using the information in the RSS feed. [...]

Filter vs Datedness in old science fiction.

6th
Aug. × ’09

I got an interesting listener email about old science fiction. Here’s an excerpt:
Listening to your previous review of Jules Verne’s novel I remembered that as a kid I used to get his books from the library all the time, multiple times. Today however, I hesitate to read anything this old – for the only reason [...]

New Cover Art for “Minding Tomorrow”

25th
Jul. × ’09

I released my first completed novel, “Minding Tomorrow”, for free a few months ago, and so far the reception has been really good. I’ve had loads of great emails from people telling me they’ve enjoyed it, a podcast review by Chris from the M-Brane SF blog, and even a few donations via the PayPal tip [...]
